I've recently finished reading a powerful book on revival written by Leonard Ravenhill - Why Revival Tarries. I am determined and fully persuaded that revival shall not tarry for lack of interest, desire or prayerlessness on my part! I have seen a move of God and that makes me hungry for more! David said in Psalm 34:8, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!" A taste of something good creates a desire for more! Last night after church, I began another book by Leonard Ravenhill entitled Sodom Had No Bible. It, too, is a hard-hitting challenging soul-searching book. The message is just as relevant for today as it was when first penned in 1971! I would like to share a poem he included, written by Mrs. B. P. Head. My heart echoes the cry of her heart!
O Breath of Life, come sweeping through us;
Revive Thy Church with life and power.
O Breath off Life, come cleanse, renew us,
And fit Thy Church to meet this hour.
O Wind of God, come bend us, break us,
Till humbly we confess our need;
Then is Thy tenderness remake us,
Revive, restore, for this we plead.
O Breath of Love, come breathe within us,
Renewing thought and will and heart;
Come, Love of Christ, afresh to win us,
Revive Thy Church in every part.
O Heart of Christ, once broken for us,
'Tis there we find our strength and rest;
Our broken contrite hearts now solace,
And let Thy waiting Church be blest.
Revive us Lord! Is zeal abating
While harvest fields are vast and white?
Revive us Lord, the world is waiting,
Equip Thy Church to spread the light.
