James 2:17, "Even so faith, if it hath not works is dead, being alone."
True saving faith will always express itself in godly action and devotion to Jesus Christ. Faith without works is dead faith. True faith always manifests itself in obedience toward God and compassionate deeds toward those in need. There are those who believe that profession of faith in Jesus Christ is all that is necessary for salvation. They believe that maintaining a daily personal obedient is relationship is not essential and is merely optional. James says that such faith is dead and will not produce salvation. There are many who profess to be 'believers', but show no evidence of regeneration. They have merely a 'devils' faith, though they don't go so far as to tremble at His Word as do they.
Our works do not and could never save us! We are justified by faith Christ's work alone. But our outward works give evidence to the inward work of the Divine nature. Saving faith is a living faith in a living Savior; a faith so vital that it cannot avoid expression in deeds motivated by love. (Gal. 5:6)
